Hello, I am your Vastu Consultant & Coach, Deepak Kumar Saini, and in this blog, we will explore Study Room Vastu Tips that can help to improve children’s attention, focus, and overall academic performance.

Understanding Study Vastu for Children

According to Vastu Shastra, the study environment differs for:

  • Young Children (up to Class 7–8)
  • Higher Education Students (Class 9 onwards, including competitive exams, IIT, Engineering, etc.)

Each group has different directional requirements, and placing their study table in the right zone makes a big difference.

Vastu Zones: Best & Worst Directions for Studying

Below are the study zones explained in simple terms:

Best Directions for Studying

1. North-East (NE) – Ideal for Young Children

  • Best for kids up to Class 7–8
  • Enhances grasping power, stability, and calmness
  • If possible, create the study area or study room in this zone

Facing Direction: Always prefer East

2. East – The Energy Zone

  • The rising sun gives energy, positivity, and focus
  • Helps children sit longer without getting tired
  • Ideal facing direction for all age groups

This is why worship is also done facing East because the Sun is the source of energy on Earth.

3. West-Southwest (WSW) – Best for Higher Education

  • Highly recommended for students preparing for competitive exams
  • Improves deep focus and retention
  • Ideal for older students (Class 9 onwards)

If West-Southwest is not available, then choose North-East.

4. South-Southeast (SSE) – Boosts Confidence

  • Good for intelligent students but lack confidence
  • Helps in communication, presentation, and clarity
  • Suitable mostly for older students

5. Southwest (SW) – Skill Enhancement Zone

  • Ideal for students practicing a specific skill or subject
  • Supports discipline and stability

Directions to Avoid for Studying

1. North & North-Northeast

  • Causes distraction and lack of interest
  • Should be avoided for both young and older children

2. East-Northeast (ENE)

  • Creates entertainment tendencies
  • Leads to mobile addiction, distraction, and mischief

3. East (Area), Not Facing

  • If the study table is placed in the East zone (not facing East),
the child may become more social and distracted
  • Increases desire to chat, call friends, or engage socially

4. East-Southeast (ESE) – The Churning Zone

  • Creates mental overthinking
  • Suitable only for research-oriented students, not general academics

5. Southeast (SE)

  • Increases aggression and irritation
  • Avoid especially if the area has red colors (tables, décor, etc.)
  • If unavoidable, use neutral colors like cream or white

6. South

  • Relaxation zone
  • Leads to laziness and lack of action
  • Child may appear to study but won’t stay focused

7. South-Southwest (SSW)

  • Drains energy quickly
  • If your child feels unconscious or bored while studying, refine this area

8. West-Northwest (WNW) – Very Bad Direction

  • Worse than Southeast
  • Causes sadness, emotional imbalance, and low performance
  • Avoid that direction at every costs

9. Northwest (NW)

  • Represents movement
  • Child will sit but won’t focus; mind will wander constantly
  • Leads to poor results despite long study hours

10. North-Northwest (NNW)

  • Causes attraction distractions (movies, opposite gender, entertainment)
  • Major focus loss zone for teens
  • Shift the study table immediately if placed here

Final Vastu Recommendation

You don’t need multiple perfect zones.
Even one good direction is enough:

Top two Vastu zones for studying:

  1. Northeast (NE)
  2. West-Southwest (WSW)

Best Facing Direction:

  • East
  • Alternatively, Northeast facing if East isn’t possible

Place the study table in a positive environment and ensure the child faces the right direction this alone improves concentration, retention, and consistency.

Conclusion

When Vastu principles are applied correctly in study room, children experience:

  • Better concentration
  • Improved academic performance
  • Reduced distraction
  • Increase confidence
  • A calmer, more positive study environment
